Sperm Whale Expeditions
In recent years, Marine Boy Productions and their associates have been observing and filming Sperm Whales off the South East Coast of Australia with amazing regularity from March through to June. The offshore, open and crystal clear waters have revealed large numbers of Sperm Whales on numerous field trips. These aggregations have provided a number of amazing topside photographic opportunities.
At times large numbers of Sperm Whales can be seen socializing and “logging” on the surface. On some field trips over 100 Sperm whales have been seen in a day. Marine Boy Productions believe this is one of the finest places in the world to film Sperm Whales.
This area is very rich with marine life, especially cetaceans. Other Species regularly encountered include:
- Killer Whales
- Pilot Whales
- False Killer Whales
- Pygmy Killer Whales, and
- Risso's Dolphins.
This area offers great opportunities for filming Sperm Whales underwater, with clear and warm waters the norm. We can even arrange for aerial photography of the Sperm Whales.
Permits are required to approach and film these amazing animals.
Marine Boy Productions can apply to the relevant authorities to gain the required permits to attempt obtain both topside and underwater images of these animals.
