Big Eye Tuna Aggregation Expeditions

Each year off Australia’s north east coast there is a huge aggregation of Big Eye Tuna along with Whale sharks. This regular natural phenomenon is known as the “Boiling Sea”. It seems that the Boiling Sea is triggered by the annual spawning of the deep water Lantern fish. Whilst charter game fisherman have been visiting this aggregation for many years it was only recently that Rob Torelli led an expedition to explore this unique natural phenomena.

What he found and filmed was simply amazing and far exceeded all of the stories he had previously heard. In the open and crystal clear waters of the Coral Sea, (approximately 100 miles east of Cairns) Robert encountered thousands of Big Eye Tuna, Yellow fin Tuna, Mahi Mahi, Marlin, Wahoo, Tiger sharks, Silky Sharks, Oceanic White Tip sharks and dozens of ultra friendly Whale sharks. Over several days Robert and his companions were able to dive amongst massive schools of tuna and film “up close and personal” all the shark action.

Marine Boy Productions can now offer this unique and amazing charter to photographers and film makers alike. Best time of the year is in November and December.
