Blue Whale Expeditions

The waters off Western Victoria are known feeding grounds for the Blue Whale. Each year from December through to May the Blue Whales migrate to this region to feed on krill. Marine Boy Productions can arrange expeditions to view and film Blue Whales from either Portland in Western Victoria, or Port MacDonnell in South Australia. At certain times of the year expeditions can even depart from Port Philip Bay.

All trips are customised to clients needs and we utilize a number of charter vessels depending on client’s requirements. Charter flights can be arranged to view the whales from the air and or support the water based team in spotting the Blue Whales. Other animals encountered on these trips include both Common Dolphins and Bottlenose Dolphins along with fur seals and even Leatherback turtles. At times pods of Pilot Whales have been encountered and even Southern Right Whales.

These expeditions are available for both photographers and film crews.

Marine Boy Productions can apply to the relevant authorities to gain the required permits to attempt to obtain both topside and underwater images of the Blue Whales.
